Capstone Journal Entry - Your Own 'Last Lecture'

If I were to give advice to someone who was about to start the entrepreneurship journey the first thing I would tell them is to have confidence in themselves. If you do not believe in yourself, no one else will. It is important to trust yourself and know that you can accomplish what you put your mind to accomplish with the plans you have made. I have learn many great principles from the Action Hero, I will miss but not really miss it because I have save the link and I also know I will always get access to it when I visit my ilearn page. This week was a very amazing week for me. I have been having hard times getting asignments done on time but we were blessed with good weather this week, no rain and at least every two days there is full light till the next day. I learned great lessons from my PowerPoint presentation, even though I was not able to complete it, I learned from some of my class colleagues the importance of making a presentation so well that you can take investor into that “woow” moment.   I really enjoyed reading the file titled “WORK ON YOUR BUSINESS, NOT JUST IN YOUR BUSINESS”. Limit business discussions outside of the office. That’s not always possible, but at least save them for an appropriate time — not at a family wedding or funeral, for example. Establish clear and regular methods of communication. Problems and differences of opinion are inevitable. Maybe you see them already. Consider weekly meetings to assess progress, air any differences and resolve disputes. Divide roles and responsibilities. While various family members may be qualified for similar tasks, duties should be divvied up to avoid conflicts. Big decisions can be made together, but a debate over each little mov...

This week, I have had the privilege of learning how Franchising Works. Purchasing a franchise is such a proven model that I am surprised that more people don’t do it! I feel most people in Ghana don’t go into such business due to our level of education on this matter. The reading materials from the website under How Franchising Works did enlighten me a lot about franchising. I have come to understand that franchise business offer much less risk than other conventional businesses because it has better operational and management systems. According to Small Business Administration (SBA), many small businesses failed because of weak management. (http://money.howstuffworks.com/franchising2.htm ) I personally have a strong erg to purchase a franchise and also be able to educate others about it. I also learn of interesting terms like Franchisor and Franchisee and also Franchise Agreement which are often sign between the Franchisor-the owner of the business and the Franchisee-th...
