This week was quite challenging for me due to some issues arising in my new venture of business. I was encourage by the words of my Action Hero Stewart, when he said this in regards to his business “The businesses that failed were the ones I tried to make money on; the ones that succeeded did so because we were focused on our mission.”
I was working in church employment and ten I had a privilege of partnering with a Philipino in a new business and this I did resign from my job feeling that the money I will be making is more, today this man has caused me and my college a lot of troubles and I almost became jobless if not for the fact that I have venture into a new business when the whole issues aroused and from Stewart statement I have come to a realization of the cause of my failure.
In regards to the reading “Hire slow and Fire Fast” I have made the following as my personal check list when going through the process of bringing new people on board.
  1. Commit to take as much time as you need in order to find the right person for the job.
  2. Know what you are looking for. Decide what qualifications your employee needs to have and what kind of person will fit the culture and values of the company.
  3. Before meeting any candidates, write out a job description. Include in the description a list of the following items: (a) what work experience the person must have, (b) what the job entails, and (c) a contract or work agreement stating what hours the employee will work, what the employee will be paid, how often the employee will be evaluated, and what consequences will apply if certain conditions of the contract are not met.
  4. Check each applicant’s references from other jobs.
  5. Get to know the people you consider hiring. Interview them at least twice. If you already have a trusted employee, have that employee do some of the interviewing as well.
I feel, I have come to learn of this great principle at the right time of my life and I know it will add me as I continue to apply them in my entrepreneurial journey.

$100 Challenge
This week has been somehow challenging and has been a great worth. I had a new client coming in from South Africa who made me sent to him things he can do and places he can see and how we will go about it when he arrives in Ghana. Out of my $50, I have spent $5 for some flyers and hope to gain more profit by next week and even go above my projected goal of $100.
