Lesson 8

Below are great lessons I learned for myself this week that I don’t want to forget during discussions in my class.

What are the Savior’s attributes that President Kimball describes?  Pick one and describe how you would demonstrate as a leader in a business?

President Kimball mentions the following attributes of the Savior in his address: Understanding others, secular leadership, accountability, selfless leadership, responsibility, wise use of time, and potential.  I decided to focus on selfless leadership.  One thing I think is, if every person could put themselves and their own needs second to those that they lead, the world would definitely be less inclined to be selfish and self-centered and more charitable and compassionate.  Just as in business, I will ensure that I know each of my employees as a CEO, know their needs and capabilities and not to condemn them when they make mistakes, but understand them and help them become better employees as I want.

How would you describe selfless leadership?  Who do you know who exemplifies this attribute in his/her life?

President Kimball described selfless leadership as: “He put himself and his own needs second and ministered to others beyond the call of duty, tirelessly, lovingly, effectively. So many of the problems in the world today spring from selfishness and self-centeredness in which too many make harsh demands of life and others in order to meet their demands.”   My mum has always been that example to me, she ensure she put all her needs and wants aside and make sure we are comfortable before anything else. She denies herself pleasures to make us happy to ensure that she is leading us the way we should be when we grow.

How are you changing your life to live closer to what Christ would want you to be?

Most questions I ask myself is, what are the things that I can’t do if Christ was to be with me today? Is there something in my life that I’m doing which I need to stop doing or is there something that am not doing which I need to start doing?
I have come to a realization that if I constantly do that which pleases Christ and makes me happy I will be closer to him than I can imagine.

Just as I learned from my Action Hero Ken “the importance of realizing that as an entrepreneur that you are working with other special people who have their own qualities and assets that they bring to the table”.
It’s very important for me to know my people, understand them and appreciate all that they do bring on board because they are experts in their own way.

With my $100 challenge, I couldn’t make everything for myself this week because I was out with my company making donations of .clothing’s, school amenities and few other things to deprived communities who really needed those things, this I chose to do this week because I plan not to wait and have everything before I can give back to the community. Just as I have begun my journey, giving back to the community once a quarter has also began.
